Hours spent on some training courses can be validated as equivalences in the situations listed below.

Summer schools

Participation in themed summer schools, where courses (> 1h30) cover a major disciplinary field, can be validated as part of the doctoral program.

  • Duration < 3 days: 8 hours validated
  • Duration 5-7 days: 15 hours validated
  • Duration > 1 week: 15 hours validated (+10 hours per week)

Validation on presentation of an attendance certificate signed by the person in charge of the course and giving the number of hours.

The doctoral student must send the Physics and Engineering Doctoral School secretariat a request for validation before attending the summer school by providing the detailed program.
Only one summer school can be validated during the doctoral program.

Attendance at conferences, workshops or congresses cannot be validated in this way.

Online training courses

Completing online courses can be validated in the framework of the doctoral program, on presentation of a participation certificate giving the number of hours.

A maximum of 15 hours can be validated in this way during the doctoral program.

Involvement in the life of the Doctoral School

Doctoral student representatives on the Doctoral School Council can validate their active and regular participation on the Council and in organizing Doctoral School events (annual open day, photographic exhibition "Images of Physics and Engineering") as a transversal doctoral training course.
20 hours (or 15 hours for deputies) can be counted in this way, during the doctoral program.

Doctorates conducted in particular circumstances

Some exemptions may be granted in the case of doctorates conducted in particular circumstances, such as CIFRE contracts carried out part-time in a company, cotutelle jointly supervised doctoral programs requiring long visits abroad, etc.
